Fun and learning kick into high gear for area's retirees
For starters, you should make it a point to meet the director of Senior Activities, Angie Jochum. She will explain the many choices you have for interesting trips, hobbies, games and classes. Sponsored by City of Cullman Parks and Recreation, this program focuses on providing recreational, social, and leisure opportunities for folks 50 and over. "We don't have memberships, but we average about 1,800 seniors through the building each month," said Jochum. "And that's just counting the ones that sign in; sometimes people don't stop to register." The Senior Spirit Program invites seniors to try their talents at singing or to come and enjoy hearing others sing. Roy Moon provides the music and karaoke for an afternoon filled with entertainment and camaraderie. And it won’t cost you a dime! Be there to join in the fun on the third Friday of every month, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Donald E. Green Senior Center at Ingle Park. If music inspires you to get up and dance, then you might also enjoy line dancing with instructor Sherry Boatwright. It’s a great way to get in a low-impact aerobic workout, while listening to some great music and visiting with friends. Line dancing classes run year-round, and meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Classes are divided between beginners (from 9:15 to 10 a.m.) and Intermediates (from 10 to 11 a.m.) And it’s all free! If singing is more to your liking, you will find a wonderful group with which to raise your voice in praise. The Senior Spirit Singers come together on Mondays to practice old-time Gospel hymns. They often lend their talents to revivals, special events, assisted living facilities and nursing homes and other functions throughout our community. Their CDs are available at the Senior Center for $10. The Senior Spirit Singers will go back into the studio this winter to cut a new CD, under the direction of Helen Orr, with pianists Shelby Wynn and Marlene Edwards. Other, more traditional art classes which include oils, acrylics and other mediums are also available. Instructor Nella Fae Briscoe offers students the chance to show off their imaginative side on the first Tuesday of each month, from January to October, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is a $10 fee for this class, and students must furnish their own supplies. On Mondays at 1 p.m. the age-old art of quilting is available to seniors at Ingle Park. Using a frame and joining in to form an old-fashioned quilting bee.Art Prints New Orleans - News

Purchasing pictures of New Orleans French Quarter | Pompo ...
This image of St Louis Cathedral makes me VERY happy since I waited for quite a long time yesterday to capture this photo. I have seen many shots of St Lous Cathedral, but the light, weather and angle in this photo, makes it very unique, moody and romantic. It was very well worth it to deal with rain and super high humidity yay! It is available as a 10″x 10″ or 20″x 20″ fine art print or as a 20″x20″ giclees (canvas gallery wrap).
If you have read the famous book a “A Confederacy of Dunces” you should already know about these Lucky Dogs carts that are all over the French Quarter selling “gourmet hot dogs”. I tried to eat one once, but since I wasn’t drunk ( I don’t ever drink) it tasted pretty nasty to me. Maybe I forgot the relish , who knows, maybe it is true that people just eat them to soak up some the handgranades they have had . Anyway, getting back to business, this image is available as a fine art print here .

Pompo has gone still beyond: He has photographed before anyone, the place where the high waves are born, where man had never ridden the surf. This fantastic place called “Jaws” or "Peahi" always remained secretly guarded by the Native Hawaiians. No one was allowed to take risks. Successfully, he arrived on the scene capturing the images on film, which are now part of windsurfing history.
Today this photographer of exceptional works resides in Louisiana where he captures its spirit, natural beauty and culture.
To see the most up to date selection of images available for purchase as Fine Art Prints or Licensing, please always visit his secure site: nolaPIC.com as this blog here only shows a very small percentage of his photography work.
