• Ashland, Neb., has a full weekend of activies planned for Ashland Stir-up Days Friday through Sunday. Some of the things planned for this community festival include a parade, frog-jumping contest, carnival, dance and children's games. • The East Pottawattamie County Fair is in Avoca, Iowa, through Monday. Enjoy bull riding, a demolition derby and 4-H exhibitions, talent show, picnic and pie silent auction set for Sunday. • The theme for this year's concert by the Gage County (Neb.) Historical Society Band will be "That's Entertainment," honoring Gage County people of the stage and screen. The 7 p.m. concert, which is free and open to the public, will be at the Beatrice Chautauqua Park Tabernacle on Sunday. • There is a full weekend of live horseracing at Horseman's Park, 6303 Q St. First race post times are at 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free. In addition to horseracing, there will live music all three days: Lemon Fresh Day performs Friday, High Heel on Saturday and Southpaw on Sunday. Sunday is Family Fun Day at Horseman's Park. All children 12 and under get in free for pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, inflatable rides and more.

• The Blackwood Brothers Gospel group will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kids Against Hunger Concert. Their performance will be in the 2,000-seat sanctuary of St. Mark United Methodist Church, 84th Street and Pioneers Boulevard in Lincoln. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. An offering will be collected. • AARP and Walgreens will offer free health tests and health education aboard specially outfitted AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour buses. Tests that will be offered are total cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels, waist circumference and Body Mass Index. Kris Allen - Stir Cove (Harrah's Casino) - Council Bluffs, IA - 07 ...

Tonight marks the first of a handful of concerts where Kris Allen will be an opening act for Barenaked Ladies . This concert, which also features Angel Taylor as an opener, is at Stir Cove at Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs, IA — the same venue that Adam Lambert performed at earlier this year.

Angel Taylor is scheduled to open the show at 7:25 p.m. Central time . Look for Kris and his band to hit the stage somewhere around 8 p.m. Central time . Word is that it will be (approximately) 40-minute set.

I texted our HAC dj and asked if Kris Allen’s new single “The Truth” has been added to their playlist yet. He responded that it has not but should be in the next week or so. He also said that he just listened to the song yesterday for the first time and thought is was beautiful, a good song and could be another hit for Kris. LLWD is still played 4 – 5 times a day on this station. So, maybe they are waiting for a LLWD “slowdown” on this station?

Keeping fingers crossed that when this hopefully gains spins, it will be a HAC hit There are actually quite a few “slower” songs getting respectable airtime: Glitter in the Air (Pink), September (Daughtry), Breathe (Ryan Starr). TT is comparable to any of those.

I love the fact that we get Kris threads almost daily lately (& sometimes multiple ones). I love the pictures and videos that everyone has been posting. Thank you for everyone’s hard work!!

I have to say that I do prefer the dry Kris pictures, but an occasional sweaty picture is a nice change sometimes ;} Especially since it has been so freaking hot at his concerts lately. He is just representing his audience. LOL.
