Harrogate car crash kills man and seriously injures woman
Harrogate A61 car crash kills manA 30-year-old man has died in a car crash on the A61 near Harrogate.
The collision happened just after 14:30 BST on Sunday and involved two cars, a red Alfa Romeo Spider and a silver BMW 3 Series.
The Alfa Romeo landed on its roof after colliding with the BMW, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Giandomenico D'Angelo, of Leeds, died at the scene and the driver of the BMW, a 77-year-old woman, was seriously injured in the crash.
The woman was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where she was said to be in a stable condition.
Traffic officer Rick Harper said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a man and left a woman recovering from her injuries in hospital.
"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident to contact the police as a matter of urgency.
