1. We are heading into the heart of summer with another hot sunny day today. Forecasters are saying the high will be 92 degrees F and the low only 73 degrees F.

This morning at 9:30 am and again at 11:30 am, the internationally acclaimed Russian dance ensemble, Barynya, will perform Russian folk and fairy tales in dance at Strathmore Backyard Theater for Children . The show happens all outdoors under a big tent! This seems like an action filled and cultural way to start your day with the kids.

3. Bring the kids to "Storytime on the Lake." Join the naturalists aboard Black Hill Regional Park's pontoon boat at 10:30am today to hear a story and scout out the wonders of Little Seneca lake! The ride lasts approximately an hour and is appropriate for children ages 3 and up. It is also full of interesting information for adults. Today, they will search for butterflies. Cost is $5 per person. Black Hill Regional Park Visitors Center is at 20926 Lake Ridge Drive in Boyds, MD.
4. The Kentlands Whole Foods has a Healthy Eating Specialist on staff. She will be giving a "Health Starts Here" cooking class this evening in the store's Cafe at 7pm. These monthly cooking classes are free and have a different theme each session. This week's focus is on cooking from the garden – preferably, your garden. 5. Get ready to shed your summertime blues with a Thursday night Swing Dance at Glen Echo Park. Capital Blues hosts the popular Slow Blues and Swing Dance in the Back Room, with a 45-minute beginner lesson at 8:15 pm and the dance is from 9pm – 11:30pm. They have been selling out this summer, so come early!
DJ Mike Marcotte & Guests will play a variety of styles including traditional and contemporary blues music, and classic cover tunes going back through the history of blues and swing music. Admission is $8. No partner required .
