Low pressure is going to be dominating the weather throughout the week. The low pressure tending to be to the north of the country, and it is here where most of any rain or showers will be. To the south conditions will be brighter with sunny spells, although there will be showers and rain here at times. Temperatures typically around normal for the time of year, if not a little below.

Wednesday 10/8/11
Low pressure deepens to the northwest of Scotland on Wednesday. This brings increased winds, cloud and rain to western parts of the country, the rain heavy at times as fronts move in. More central and eastern parts of England and eastern Wales will be dry with broken cloud and sunny spells. Winds may be reaching gale force at times in the north and west of Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 11C in northern Scotland, 21C in the sunshine over eastern parts of England.

Thursday 11/8/11
Low pressure remains to the west of Scotland today. A cold front pushes eastwards taking some rain through Scotland, England and Wales, this probably clearing quickly into the North Sea although possibly lingering over southeastern areas for a time. Further west it will become brighter with some showers, most of them affecting western coasts and hills. Highs at 14 to 22C.


Friday 12/8/11
Pressure remains low through Friday, being centred through the north of the country. There will be sunny spells but also some showers affecting western areas. A few of the showers could be heavy in the north. Best of the sunshine to the south and east with highs at 15 to 22C.

Saturday 13/8/11
The low pressure area deepens to the northwest of Scotland. This is going to be bringing sunny spells and showers to most of the country, heavy in the north and west. Less showers to the south and east although an odd one could be heavy once again. Highs at 14C in northern Scotland, 22C in southeast England.

Sunday 14/8/11
Pressure stays low over Scotland today. This brings another day of showers, some of them prolonged and heavy through the north and west of the country.

Monday Low pressure to the east of the country is going to be controlling the weather through today bringing a stiff breeze. The low is going to be bringing cloud and more rain to the east of Scotland, and this is likely to be lasting for much of the day. Winds to gale force around the coasts of Scotland. A band of showers will spread south through northern England and north wales through the morning and into the afternoon. Elsewhere expect sunny spells and scattered showers, these being relatively few along southern coasts of England where the best of the sunshine will be. Highs at 11C in northern Scotland, 19C in southuern England, and feeling chilly for all.

Monday Night Staying windy overnight, with the winds near gale force along eastern coasts at first. The rain in eastern Scotland should become more showery. Coastal areas of the north and west may see showers. For most other areas the night will be dry with some clear spells, although remaining breezy for all. Lows will be to a chilly 5C in parts of northern England and Scotland, 10C in southern England.

Tuesday Sunny spells and showers to start the day around the coasts of eastern and western Scotland, northwest England, the north and west of Wales and eastern England. Most of these will be fairly light to the west, but a few heavier ones are likely in the east. Low pressure in the North Sea brings a brisk northwest wind again, but this eases through the day as a ridge of high pressure builds from the west. For most other places it will be a dry and cool start to the day. There will be good spells of sunshine, and these are going to be lasting throughout the day. The showers will be fading from all but eastern coasts as the day progresses with the best sunshine always across Ireland and southern coasts of England. Highs at 12 to 19C.
